This diy shiplap around my fireplace is an easy and inexpensive project that will add character and dimension to any boring wall! To finish off the project i used 1x6 mdf boards to create shiplap effect and painted them. They are traditionally built with 1 x 8″ boards. The washing also dampens the brick and mortar, a necessary step before repointing.
